Them Crooked Vultures

It was a busy day indeed! Before going to the gig I was going to the gym with Deny as a guest to try it out. Deny picked me off and we went off down town, chatting about work and bits as we went. We parked up in town and walked to the gym which was up loads of flights of stairs, It was a work out in it's self! Inside were all strange and weird machines to work different parts of your body and I'm sure some could be used to torture people.

We started out on the cross trainer for ten minutes to get warmed up, while doing it we changed direction every minute (peddled the other way). After that we went round doing lots of different things with Deny showing me first and then me doing 5-10 reps of it. Only thing was after an hour i felt fuzzy and had to stop due to lack of water....I'd only brought a little bottle with me and not being used to a work out like that and the heat in the gym I almost passed out. I went to the barthroom and sat in the stool for a bit getting my breath back (I was suddenly out of breath as well, it just hit me when I went fuzzy). After a little bit I got up and splashed my face with water and I was ok again but we called it a day after that. Deny drove me home and I then had to shower and get ready to go back out to meet Karl at the train station.

I met Karl and Lindsay (his gf) at the train station around 3 (due to leaving early for Aerosmith and having houuuurrrss to kill we didn't want a repeat). We got our tickets and headed off to London! While on the way we chatted and Karl and Lindsay seemed to take little digs at each other, knowing how Karl felt about her I wondered if that was signs that it wouldn't last long between those two. When we got to London we went for something to eat and ended up in Nandos! I love Nandos and hadn't been to one for ages and as we sat there eatting it hit me....The last time I went to Nandos was almost a year ago on my ex's birthday but I didn't let it ruin my day out thinking about it. After that we headed off to Brixton to get to the Brixton Academy. When we got there we still had time to kill so we went and got a drink in a pub near by and chatted. After that we went over to the Academy and queued up with the rest of the people and chatted while we waited, after awhile a guy working for the Academy if any one had an 02 mobile. Everyone didn't move or say anything and me wondering why said yes (because I did) and showed him my mobile, he then told as we could queue up in the 02 priority line (02 now own Brixton Academy) which was alot shorter then the other line. We stood and waited while chatting about random stuff until the doors opened and we could go in. Inside we all got a "Them Crooked Vultures" t-shirt (going to get one at every venue I go to), walked out in to the main hall and found a place to stand. I got advised by Karl and Lindsay not to stand near the front as this kind of gig can get a little crazy with mosh pit action (they had an ambulance waiting outside on stand by). We found a place to stand and chatted while we waited for the bands to come on stage and watched the roadies do their thing.

After awhile the lights went down and the support band came on an Irish rock band who just well....rocked out, no singing just playing. They were pretty good and we all got to mosh/head bang/whatever to it and then we got to wait again while roadies sorted out stuff again. The crowd went crazy when Them Crooked Vultures came on everyone was cheering, shouting, whistling and just going nuts. As the band set up Josh Homme said thanks for coming out and said to wave to his friend Brian who was watching over the internet. I didn't know this at the time but the gig was down to raise money for Brian O’Connor (bassist for Eagles of Death Metal) who was recently diagnosed with cancer and didn't have any medical insurance. Felt nice to know I was helping someone with out even knowing I was helping them. Well it was a great gig and even though I'd never heard of Them Crooked Vultures before hand I really enjoyed it! Karl also has tickets for us all to go see 30 Seconds to Mars in November.
