Expo & Birthday

Well since I have some free time at work (they'll be reasons for that later). I thought I might get a few entries out the way!

On May 27th it was my birthday! Yay wooo...I'm old etc. Not really much to note down on here about it, I got some money, DVDs, odd bits and on Friday night I went out with a few people for a few drinks. I was more excited about the MCM Expo on Saturday!

The MCM Expo is a games, anime, film, manga, comic expo held in the Excel Exhibition Centre and as it is an Expo people cosplay it up when they go there. Due to me needing little reason to want to dress up as something I had got myself a Corsair outfit (thats to do with Final Fantasy 11). Andrew who was driving us down to it had been before but again had not got anything ready to wear for it! Sarah (who was meeting us there) was going as Fang from Final Fanasty 13 and one of their friends who was dressed up as someone from Naruto as far as I could tell.

When we go to there Andrew parked in the underground car park of the Excel and went to get a ticket while I put my gear on and then stopped. I noticed most of the people parking up and getting out were dressed in normal clothes....I then hoped to god that I wasn't the only person dressed up as something. We walked through the car park and I got some odd looks from people as we went along BUT when we got to the doors in to the Excel (glass) I could see a group of people sitting down dressed up as things! I open the door to find the whole of Excel full of people and most of them dressed up! YAY! You had people dressed up as people from Bleach, Naruto, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, Fullmetal Alchemist, Dragon Ball and loads more that I have no idea of. Plus most of the things the girls were wearing were kind of revealing, not that I minded. Oh and people giving away free hugs?? I'd never been to anything like this but it's some kind of Expo inside joke....Oh well I got some free hugs so it's all good.

The line for tickets in to the Expo was pretty big and I felt sorry for people in some of the costumes as it was pretty warm in there. As we walked round the line we got to see some more funky outfits and some people dressed up in steampunk style outfits. One of the steampunk girls had this clockwork wind up key in her back and it moved round like she was a wind up toy. We got our tickets and went in to the Expo and that was just crowded with people! It had lots of bits inside artwork, comics, posters, models, toys, hats, replica weapons and more. It was nice to see all the strange and interesting things that my friend in Hong Kong (well shes not there anymore) would see most days.

But it was a great day out seeing all the things and taking photos/videos of the expo as well as having your photo taken by random people (and getting hugged). We've already said we'll go again next year and I've already started thinking about what to wear. Plus Andrew will have to go as something thing time....
